From the Plantation to the East End...
When looking at accommodations, this map will help you determine where you'd like to be.
The Plantation:
The Plantation is a 12 mile long gated community at one end of the Island. There are beautiful homes in there, but they don't allow golf carts and we love having golf carts to drive all around the Island. Many homes have pools, but they also have a community pool, tennis courts, and a community room that offers many activities like Yoga Classes, Card Games, and more.
Gulf Beaches:
Normally where we like to be. Close to town, but we prefer to stay a little closer to East End where there are less homes. You can rent golf carts and everything is very accessible, the park, the restaurants, grocery store, ice cream shop, everything is in this area.
East End:
Larger homes, but also condos/townhouses. The Wedding will be held in this area. You can drive golf carts in this area too, you just cannot drive them down the main road, back roads only. Closest to the State Park, which is absolutely beautiful - just voted #1 Beach in America.
Bay side to Beachfront..
The Island is 28 miles from end to end.

We have used them to rent homes for many years. They have a great selection. If you are staying with a group, this is your best option. Most require a weekly rental.

The Buccaneer Inn is the closest thing to a motel on the Island. The rooms were recently renovated and you can stay there for under $200 a night, with no nightly minimum requirement. The Buccaneer is beachfront.

With only 20 private guest rooms, the Inn is much more intimate. It is centrally located on the island and within walking distance to the Beach, Shops and Restaurants.
Rooms at the Inn are around $300 a night.
300 Ocean Mile

300 Ocean Mile is a community of 99 Townhomes. There are two community swimming pools, and the units are 1-3 bedrooms.
These will be in close proximity to where the wedding will be held.

Recently Renovated, each is a Double Queen or King Room with Microwave and Refrigerator.
Island Suites is in the center of town, where the beach is the busiest.
Units average $220 a night.
They book through Airbnb and you can click the link above to check them out.

You can take a tour of the lighthouse and climb to the top.
They have a small gift shop.
You have to do it once.
Look for Kyleigh & Jaret's brick as you walk the walkway around the lighthouse.

You can spend full days in Apalachicola. There are so many great little shops, and restaurants and things to see.
It's about a 15 minute drive over from the Island.
Plan to spend some time here for sure.

Apalachicola History with a French Flair
Beginning in the early 1800s, France and other European nations maintained a significant interest in Apalachicola because of its location as a shipping port. As a result of this interest, the French government operated a consulate in Apalachicola into the early twentieth century. The French Consulate’s location in the early 1900s was on the second floor of the Grady building.
Once bustling with steamboats and sail powerered cargo lighters, the Apalachicola waterfront was a major shipping hub – exporting commodities to France and elsewhere by a sizeable French population at the time.
